After the complete success that was my trip to Munich during this Summer, I couldn’t wait to plan my next one. I, however, didn’t know where to go. Did I want a sun holiday? A city break? A theme park holiday? My boyfriend and I were jumping back and forth between several different places until Disneyland in Anaheim, California opened up their Star Wars themed land. Galaxy’s Edge. With us, both being massive Star Wars fans and myself a massive Disney fan from a young age, we knew this was where we wanted to go.
One small step….
Our first stop was to the nearest travel agency. A friend of ours who recently did some traveling to the States recommended a local agency and located in Cork city. They couldn’t have been more helpful in guiding us in our choice of the best holiday plan that we could afford. After a couple of visits and some mulling over, we soon decided on the places we would like to visit during our trip to the Golden State. We would be spending 12 days in total in the state of California. Starting in San Francisco and then driving down the Pacific Coast Highway, with our trip ending in Disneyland, Anaheim.
Whilst in San Francisco, our first major stop will be Alcatraz Prison. We couldn’t pass up the chance to visit this iconic piece of American history whilst staying in California, which was also once home to the infamous Al Capone. From San Francisco, we go to Monterey, which is a coastal town located along the Pacific Coast Highway. After Monterey, we spend two nights in Pismo Beach. This will be our ‘sun holiday’ portion of our trip, as our hotel is situated directly on the beech. We’re looking into getting surfing lessons whilst we’re there and it will give us a chance to chill and relax before we head out for our next stop. Los Angeles.

Los Angeles is one of our bigger stops on the trip. We spend three days there and have already begun looking into booking sightseeing tours and seeing when is best to hike up to the Hollywood sign. We are of course going to visit the Walk of Fame, as well as the Chinese Theatre and possibly Madame Tussauds.
When you wish upon a star…
Of course, our final destination is Disneyland in Anaheim. We’re only spending two nights here in total as we both decided that we would manage to see everything that we needed to see in the two days. The price of the tickets was also a major deciding factor. I have always been a huge Disney fan form a very young age and have visited Euro Disney on multiple occasions. My boyfriends’ passion for Star Wars surpasses my own, so I know he will enjoy the Star Wars themed section of the park.
As excited as we both are, we know that a trip like this is a serious commitment as we both have to continuously save money throughout the year to pay for it. It will be hard work for the next couple of months but we are both unbelievably excited to go. There is still some more organizing and research to do but according to my countdown app on my phone at the time of writing this blog post, there are 277 days to go! Expect to see plenty of more blog posts on the subject between now and then.
Until next time.
